Much of Demna Gvasalia’s inaugural collection for Balenciaga was an attempt at translating Cristobál Balenciaga’s couture methodology into a contemporary context—achieved through using couture "attitudes" (i.e. one's carriage as a result of wearing clothes) as the means to determine the cut and construction of garments.
Worn with a high-neck sweater on the runway is a matching skirt in silver metallic knit, made of fine tinsel-like lurex threads. The knit is dense yet lightweight, with a generous amount of stretch.
