Twisted top in crepe and satin
Céline • Spring-Summer 2013
-
For Spring/Summer 2013, Phoebe Philo delivers a more noticeably relaxed and laid-back collection at Céline relative to her previous offerings. Easy separates in satin, crepe, and leather were designed with twists and knots and finished with raw-edge hems, conveying a sense of refined nonchalance.
One such piece was this sleeveless black top shown on Look 9. Its front panels in black satin-back crepe connect across the chest in a twisted knot, atop a layer of lustrous bonded charmeuse. These shorter crepe panels thoughtfully cover the bust areas, allowing for braless wear. An invisible zipper closes the crepe back.
The design of this piece appears to imply an approach of reworking, in which a top’s outer front layer is taken apart and twisted to reveal a contrasting lining.
This piece was featured in Céline’s S/S 2013 campaign, worn by house muse Daria Werbowy.
