Phoebe Philo’s first runway show for Céline proposed utilitarian shapes in honest, hardwearing fabrics, heavily underscored by references to military outerwear. A sleeveless trench from Look 7 embodies these qualities, reworked from a classic trench into a more contemporary womenswear piece.
The front retains much of the classic trench features, but noticeably sleeves are eliminated for ease of wear, providing the option of wearing the piece as a dress.
At the back, an approach of reworking is employed to create versatility. Overlapping on the back are two panels, each one connected to one end of the belt. Unfastening the belt on the front leads these panels to hang on the sides for a deconstructed look.
