Much of Demna Gvasalia’s inaugural collection for Balenciaga was an attempt at translating Cristobál Balenciaga’s couture methodology into a contemporary context—achieved through using couture "attitudes" (i.e. one's carriage as a result of wearing clothes) as the means to determine the cut and construction of garments.

Worn with a pair of green chainlink sunglasses on the runway is this skirt suit in silver metallic knit, made of fine tinsel-like lurex threads. The knit is dense yet lightweight, with a generous amount of stretch.

The sweater's loose funnel neck collar slopes into dropped shoulders with large dolman sleeves. Seemingly cut from the front hem are a pair of hanging side panels, which can act as ties to transform the piece in multiple ways if desired. The matching skirt is cut to a slight flare, with an elasticated waist for easy wear.
