Prada's effort to merge contrasting archetypes of femininity for their Spring/Summer 2013 collection resulted in a series of starkly minimal silhouettes contrasted by rich floral motifs in the vein of traditional Japanese garb, rendered in a manner that veers away from tired tropes of historical costume in favor of modern dressing.

In a concise palette of red, black, and white, the florals were executed in an equally concise array of techniques: intarsia, appliqué, and print—the latter shown on this light skirt in wool-silk.

In line with Prada’s approach for this collection, the skirt’s straightforward cut and monochrome color are contradicted by a plum blossom print blossom patched on the front.
