Wide shorts in cotton-blend canvas
Prada • Spring-Summer 1999

Prada’s Spring/Summer 1999 collection saw the introduction of Prada Sport, which combined the house’s expert Italian manufacturing with technical textiles to create high-performance activewear. The show opened with functional separates crafted mainly in their signature lightweight nylon, which bore the sublabel’s distinctive red tab. This was followed by a series of garments made in a durable cotton-nylon blend canvas, including these wide pleated shorts.
The shorts feature pressed pleats on the front, back, and inseam, giving them a skirt-like appearance but with an added range of mobility. The hems are finished with green-striped ribbons that give the shorts a slight ruffled edge. The shorts are made in a light canvas fabric consisting of a blend of a green nylon warp and natural cotton weft, resulting in a slightly green-tinged ecru color.
