Strapless jumpsuit in crepe and leather
Céline • Pre-Fall 2011
-
The final few looks for Céline’s Pre-Fall 2011 were understated propositions for eveningwear—among them is this strapless jumpsuit on Look 34. The design is highly emblematic of the maison’s ethos under Phoebe Philo’s purview: a contemporary kind of minimalism informed by function and practicality.
Cut in fluid stretch viscose crepe, the jumpsuit features a slightly dropped waist with wide-leg trousers, detailed with pinched seams on the front.
Tonal lambskin leather stripes run the full length of the sides for subtle contrast, concealing inseam side pockets and further elongating the silhouette. Within the interior is a built-in boned bustier in satin and mesh to keep the suit in place.
This piece has been worn by Philo herself for the British Fashion Awards in 2010, where she won Designer of the Year. It has since become a highly sought-after piece from her tenure at Céline.
